Momma's thoughts

So I'm getting behind on this blog thing... let me tell ya, I have some pretty cute videos and pictures just begging to be put on here. But perhaps another day. I have a catastrophe downstairs. About two weeks ago I woke up and disliked the decor downstairs - the golds, reds, and oranges. I was hoping to shake the feeling but no such luck. The gold just looked more pukey colored day by day. SO, I am going from warm colors to cool colors. I was hoping to do it all in one weekend so I primed two gigantic rooms but (as Tyson would say) I tend to bite off a little more than I can chew. So on into the week this project goes... Sigh.

Anyway! Thought I would share a few quick thoughts I have had lately... a few "momma" thoughts.

In an effort to help with the nap situation, we decided to start putting Zade to bed earlier at night. Oh. my. gracious. He has an outstanding internal clock. It was screaming at him all night long... telling him that something was WAY off (even though we only put him to bed 1 to1.5 hours earlier). I saw the hours of 1, 3, 5, 5 again, and 6 something.

I think I could sleep for a week. I know! I will resist the urge to take any and all naps, and then my body will eventually get used to less sleep! Then I will be able to function longer into the night (and earlier in the morning, of course) and I will be able to get SO much done! I'll be.... like.... super..... mom..... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

And today I had tried many different angles on getting him to take a nap (he must be so rested up from all that sleep he got in the night - haha). Finally, after letting him cry and cry to no avail, I resorted to the old "bounce 'em to sleep" trick. However, he just stared at me wide-eyed with a very concerned look on his face. Hm... I must have something in my teeth.

The other night we had the windows open to cool the house down as it was a little toasty. Zade got used to the trains when he was in my tummy, but that was with the windows closed. When the windows are open and a train goes by, it sounds like it's in bed with you. On this particular night there were many trains.

Alright you little train conductor people, what are you doing? Having a little train conductor party? Did you call all your friends? I swear... if I hear another whistle that lasts 5 minutes long, I will take a shotgun out there and throw a few rounds into the air... maybe THAT will break up your little posse!

And last, but not least:
Lord, thank you for my son. I adore and treasure him. I could not imagine my life without him. Please protect Zade so that I may never have to know the pain of losing a child. But also, please help me to remember that he is Yours. You give and You take away. May I always remember that he is on loan to me. He is ultimately Your child. Please give us wisdom to know the best possible way to raise him. We want him to thrive and flourish, growing into a beautiful, intelligent, and kind little being. Thank you for giving us the gift of parenthood. We love it. We love Zade, we love each other, and we love You. Thank you, too, for giving us the gift of LOVE!

This is my favorite picture of Zade ever. Taken last week. I am so blessed to be blessed by this little boy. Will post more soon. SUPER busy week and weekend.

3 months old

Sometimes this little boy just amazes us and we look at each other like "Did you just see that?!" What is so incredible that no one teaches Zade how to grow and develop. Thankfully, our Creator designed him to do so! He is becoming such a little character. He is incredibly happy from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. He is starting to grab and swat at things now. He constantly has his hands in his mouth. His new thing is that he loves to "fly" around the room with us. He is drooling SO much. He likes to eat FAST and would rather have a bottle than nurse because of that reason. He smiles at himself in the mirror and then ducks his head to the left side, as if he is being bashful.

Although these developments are fascinating to witness, it does make me sad that he is growing up so fast (did I mention he is over 14 pounds now?!). We love him so much and cherish every minute with him.

Here is my "baby baller," looking more like a toddler.
