An excited high, crash, then burn.

Weird title but it totally makes sense to me.

Thurs. was my last day of work. After a special last day and saying good-byes (I will miss it!!), we headed off to Atkinson for a short visit. Took a couple of fun pictures of Tyson pushing Zade on the swing I used to use when I was a little girl. Will have to post it later... can't find the cable to transfer.

So I was/am so excited to be home with my little boy. And even more excited to start stretching out his feedings and getting down a nap schedule. He is still eating every 3 hours and on most days HE is the one to designate when his naps are and for how long. He is a great little boy, but I think he/we would benefit from a predictable nap schedule (fewer, longer naps) and 4 hours in between feedings. Also want him to be able to put himself to sleep rather than having to be bounced to sleep (I know, he's been spoiled, right?!).

SO we started today - already not on a good start because he hasn't been eating or sleeping much the last two days. He took 3 naps today and cried himself to sleep each one. And they have been VERY short little naps. The last one he woke up after only 30 minutes (I thought for sure he'd sleep for a couple of hours the way he was so exhuasted) but I was tough and let him cry (hoping he'd go back to sleep). I lasted for thirty minutes, went and got him but he was so tired he wouldn't stop crying. Then I wanted to cry. Think a little piece of my heart chipped off.

I gave up on trying to get him to sleep and am trying the "wear him out" method. I have him playing in the living room but every time I walk away to go do something, he cries. This is what little/no sleep does to him. I know I could bounce him to sleep so fast but I've got to be tough!

SO, this next week might be a very long week. I had hoped it would go better but what can I expect? This is months of formed habits that we are trying to break here. He will do great though. I have confidence in him! He is a fast learner. Shouldn't take more than a couple of weeks. I just adore him... and those puffy, red eyes. :(

Wish me luck!!
